About

Your English voice

I was born in England and acquired French nationality in 1998 having worked in France for over 5 years.

I grew up in the south of England, where my family still live. The west of France is ideally located for regular trips to the UK.

London to Paris via Brest

The combined honours course in International Marketing and French at the University of Greenwich offered the opportunity to spend 18 months in France.

I chose to spend a semester in Brest, Brittany and went on to do a traineeship with a market study company in Paris. I graduated in 1993.

Newspaper circulation in Paris

After graduating, I continued working in Paris and was part of the sales team for the newspapers InfoMatin and then The European.

A few years later, I joined Presstalis as distribution manager for several French daily newspapers.

I went on to become import account manager for foreign newspapers, speaking English with my clients and French with my colleagues.

As a direct result of these roles, I have inside knowledge in a variety of fields: import-export, printing and publishing, wholesale and retail marketing, tourism, logistics and transport.

Le Mans, and translation

Translation is my second career and I believe my translation work is all the more efficient for that.

In 2010, I was awarded an MA Translation with distinction. My dissertation research was based on rhetorical devices used in political speeches and the implications for translation.

Learning is a lifelong habit. I regularly attend conferences, courses and webinars on aspects of translation or related to my specialist subjects. I feel that by investing in myself, I offer added value to my clients. Running is a big part of my life and I practice Nordic Walking and yoga. Gavroche, my Brittany spaniel keeps me on my toes. I also love to curl up with a book!
